Thank you so much for the great instructions! The maple sausage is wonderful. My family has teased me for years saying that I didn't have the "gravy gene" due to my complete inablility to make homemade gravy. (Which is practically a sin in the south!) My gravy turned out perfect!

Being from the south I've had just about every cornbread around and this one is great and simple! The only thing I can add is to make it in a cast iron skillet. Pour just enough oil to lightly coat the bottom of the skillet and put the skillet in the oven while it preheats and you mix the ingredients. Then when you pour the mixture into the skillet it gives your cornbread the most amazing crispy crust.

LOVED IT! Just the way I remember strawberry shortcake from when I was little....I use just a little more sugar than called for in the dry mixture. We like sweet. I saw that a couple of people commented that it was dry. But it is crumbly, not dry, it's supposed to be that way so that it absorbs the strawberry juice. Also, serve it with vanilla icecream on a hot day! Super recipe!
