Brownies I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
These were pretty good, but I am going to keep trying new brownie recipes. I didn't mix any candies in, but I dusted some with powdered sugar and cut them with my new Wilton brownie cutter!

Wow! This is the real deal, no more flat cookies. I followed the directions exactly and instead of chocolate chips, I used M&M's. Fantastic.

Cheesy Potato and Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This is really a five star recipe. The only simple changes I made was that I left out the chiles because it is not something I normally have and I added a tablespoon or two of Grey Poupon dijon which I add to all of my creamy soups. I also steamed my corn rather that using canned corn. Fantastic!

These were great with the rice cereal in it. The chocolate coating goes well with all of the peanut butter, I had fun making these.

Whitney's Peanut Butter Cookie Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
A great base for adding more chocolate chips or you can dip these into chocolate to coat as well. I added more milk chocolate chips as well as a handful of white chocolate to mine. I may dip some of them later to try it. It only took 3 minutes of my time start to finish to whip them up. I refrigerated them before rolling into balls as well. They basically taste like peanut butter cookie dough though.....

Chocolate Covered Caramels

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
(singing) Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! These really are buttery and soft caramels. This is my fourth attempt, but each time before I used a different recipe or I didn't have a candy thermometer. I made the recipe as it follow and I poured my hot caramel into a jelly roll pan that I greased with butter. Perfection!

Good recipe, I like to keep dough refrigerated just before use so the cookies don't turn out flat.

Christmas Stars

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
These are fabulous cookies, wow! I followed the recipe exactly. I mixed some powdered sugar with the flour when I rolled them out and then I sprinkled powdered sugar on top of the upper cookies. I used Smuckers Seedless Strawberry Jam for the filling. These were the cookies we baked for Santa.

Easy Cheesy Cream of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
It was okay, the cream of mushroom in a cheesy broccoli soup didn't sound good at all, so I just used chicken broth and some heavy cream in its place. I never bought processed cheese or Velveeta before, but I had some and I made this, but I don't care for the processed cheese taste in the soup. I make a lot of broccoli soup and I have my own recipe and I think I will stick to that one. I agree with CT Gorumet's review, there isn't anything healthy by using non-fresh and processed products, it is easier to use fresh ingredients and real cheese which is healthier than processed cheese. Sorry, but there are better versions out there.

Christmas Turtle Candies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
Not sure if this counts, but I used the recipe, but I made mine differently so that is why I rated it 4-stars, I think their technique is off. I squeezed a half dollar of chocolate on wax paper and set 3-4 pecan halves in the chocolate. Once dry, I melted caramel and when it was still tacky, I made a quarter sized amount of pressed onto the pecans and then I melted more milk chocolate and spooned over the top. It is an easier way without risking the candy in an oven which seems to me making them hard. To those who find their chocolate is melting when touched, your chocolate is not tempered. You need to temper your chocolate to prevent that.

Hearty Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup Express

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
This is a great basic recipe. I used everything but the celery because I didn't have that on hand and the chicken because I don't eat meat. I made this both with regular wide egg noodles and the Reames frozen thick egg noodles and I highly recommend the Reames noodles, they really make the soup.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
How can you mess up chocolate covered pretzels? My two recommendations would be 1) you don't really need the heavy cream. 2) try milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet, it tastes so much better. DO NOT use the cream, both times I tried this the chocolate seized and I used expensive chocolate those times. Chocolate chips or Bakers chocolate is all you need.

This is almost the same recipe as the one in the Betty Crocker cookbook, except this one has vanilla. Mine don't come out flat, actually this is the most puffy cookie that I can make. Always delicious, you cannot go wrong with this recipe. I add more cinnamin to the top with the sugar.

Peanut Butter Cup Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
If you follow the recipe instructions, you will get very thick batter. Many recommend that you just follow the instructions on your brownie box and I would also recommend that. I followed the original instructions here and my batter was extremely thick. I only got 8 brownie cupcakes out of this. I used Ghiradelli double chocolate chip brownies and I topped some with milk choclate and two of them with M&Ms for my toddler. I did not care for this recipe, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR BOX INSTEAD.

Peanut Butter Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
I have been eyeballing this recipe for sometime and finally made it today. The cake itself is fantastic, but the icing to me is a little too sweet. Me being a sweets junkie, this is rare for me to think something is far too sweet. I had to scrape much of it off so I could finish my piece. It goes great to a glass of milk. I would still recommend this recipe and I would also highly recommend melting milk chocolate to drizzle on top with crushed Reeses.
