My favorite smoothies are simple and smooth. I came up with the "Simple Strawberry Smoothie" after playing around with ingredients and other recipes for a few years. Although I list apple juice in this recipe, I have used peach juice and grape juice and they are all equally delicious. You don't… MORE

About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom to our three year old daughter, Alexa. I have a great husband and a precious cat named Haylee. I love taking care of my home and my family. I am very much into natural health and medicine, but I bake and eat a lot of sweets! I grew up on a farm in Iowa and now I am very much at home in San Diego.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking a wide variety of cookies, cakes and candies, that is my specialty. I also love making homemade cheesy broccoli soup, baked ziti, cheddar cheese fondue and macaroni and cheese.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My toddler daughter loves to help me bake. I remember watching my mother bake when I grew up and she instilled that passion to bake in me. I am thinking that my daughter will turn out the same way. She has her own apron, mini baking sheets, cookie cutters and she helps me each and every time I bake.
My cooking triumphs
I tempered chocolate and I also made soft caramels, I consider those my triumphs at the moment.
My cooking tragedies
I have been trying to make candy from scratch. I failed several times at trying to make the fondant for candy and truffle centers, I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while. I have made caramel from scratch, but I still need to work at getting the right consistency so I can wrap them or dip them in chocolate.

Chocolate Spoons
Excellent idea! I used all milk chocolate. I found it easy to dip by holding a large spoon of chocolate and dipping the spoon into that to cover the bottom and then I spoon the rest of the chocolate over the top.

Daddy's Whisker Soup
I added some extra Velveeta cheese and the only the I added was a tablespoon of dijon mustard, which I add to all cheese soups. This is a great recipe, but I probably use a real cheese next time because I am not a fan of the processed cheese. Regardless of my personal preference, this is an excellent recipe and super easy too.

Fudge Puddles
I sprayed my pan with baking spray to ensure they wouldn't stick. I used a regular sized cookie scoop and rounded the dough in my hand and dropped into the pan. I made a slight indent in the middle with my finger and baked for 14-15 minutes. I found the cookies were not ready to come out 5 minutes after cooling in the pan and it was better to wait 10 or 15 minutes until they set up all the way, otherwise they are still soft and heavy enough where the rim of the cookie breaks apart from the bottoms and they are ruined. I tried to lightly pry them up with a small knife, but I found rotating them in the pan did the trick and them came out perfect with absolutely no problems at all. When they came out, I used my 1 tsp. measuring spoon to make the indent because I don't have a mellon baller. They are soft, not crumbly, no overfilling or any other issues. Don't skip the exact chocolate filling as written, it really makes this cookie.
