I was inspired by this photo from Veranda Interiors which shows tall shiny silver candle pillars flanking each side of the stove/cooktop. I admired the look for some time and I recently saw something similar at Home Goods but I was bummed out when they only had one candle pillar available. It… MORE

Homemade Snickers Bars
About this Cook
I am a tradtional homemaker and love being a wife to a great husband and a mother to a sweet daughter. I also have a precious cat that follows me around all day. I love taking care of my home and family.I grew up on a farm in Iowa but now I am very much at home in San Diego. http://tastingmysweetcreations.blogspot.com/
My favorite things to cook
I love baking a wide variety of cookies, cakes and candies as baking is my specialty. I also have been branching out and making different dinner foods and bread. I enjoy grilling vegetables and bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter loves to help me bake. I remember watching my mother bake when I grew up and she instilled that passion to bake in me. My daughter is destined to have a love for baking and has her own apron, mini baking sheets, cookie cutters. She helps me each and every time I baking in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I can temper chocolate and I can make caramels, I consider those my triumphs at the moment since it can be tricky to work with chocolate and caramel at times.
My cooking tragedies
I have been trying to make candy from scratch. I failed several times at trying to make the fondant for candy and truffle centers, I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while.

Fiber One(R) Chocolate-Peanut Butter Haystacks
Um.....WOW! I didn't except Fiber One cereal the taste good, but I was shocked to find out it does. I couldn't wait to try this recipe with it. I scaled the recipe down and used milk chocolate chips in place of semi-sweet. I like to make haystacks, but I will never make them again unless I have Fiber One. Chocolate + Peanut Butter + Fiber One = LOVE! **Also, if you have issues with the gritty texture try adding more chocolate or less cereal next time. **

Lorene's Slow Cooker Potato Soup
We thought this recipe was fabulous! I haven't brought out my crock pot in seven years, but I did to make this recipe and it will become a staple in our house. I peeled 3 very large russet potatos and chopped them up, I also added some baby carrots to the recipe. I got tired of shuffling around my spices and couldn't find my dill so I added a garlic and onion seasoning I had. I cooked on low for 8 hours but it was perfectly done in 7 hours. The potatos and the carrots have great flavor and melt in your mouth!

Espresso Bark
This is a great recipe, only that it calls for too many coffee beans. I only used 1/4 cup in mine and there is plenty is every bite. Make sure you scale back on the beans, but be sure to experiment with different flavors of beans. I used hazelnut cream in mine and it gave the overall flavor and experience more depth.
