My favorite smoothies are simple and smooth. I came up with the "Simple Strawberry Smoothie" after playing around with ingredients and other recipes for a few years. Although I list apple juice in this recipe, I have used peach juice and grape juice and they are all equally delicious. You don't taste the specific juice flavor as much as you do the blended strawberries and the smooth yogurt. You can easily use all organic ingredients for the recipe too!

Simple Strawberry Smoothie

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 cup apple juice

1 cup vanilla yogurt

Pour strawberries, juice, and yogurt into the blender and blend until smooth. You can top with whipped cream if you would like.

How many carbs are in this smoothie? I am a diabetic. Wendy

Depends on the specific brands you use. For this recipe and measurements, the yogurt contains 34 grams of carbs, 33 grams from the juice (I used peach juice today), and the strawberries were 13 grams. These numbers are for the whole recipe which make two full glasses. You are likely to only drink one glass, so you can cut those numbers in half. I hope this helps!

This looks totally delish MSC!! Please forgive my 44 yo brain, but you had you dental surgery done last week, didn't you? I hope if this is true, you are feeling better! My wisdom teeth came in laying down, partially exposed. I had them done 2 and 2. The last one was a very painful weekend!! I wish you well my friend! Take care. Patty

It looks delicious, MSC! I love smoothies too and I'm always creating some new different recipes, just didn't have a chance to submit any of my recipes to AR. Thanks for sharing your recipe! P.S.: a great suggestion for Wendy above would be to use plain fat free Greek yogurt, it's very low in carbs and sugar.

Patty, sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth, I had to have mine removed last year. I just had neck surgery on Wednesday to remove a thyroglossal cyst and part of the of hyoid bone in my neck. I am doing really well! The smoothie was my dinner last night because it hurts to chew too much right now. I hope your mouth heals soon Patty, I think the wisdom teeth surgery is much worse than the neck surgery I just had done! ;)

About Me
I am a stay at home mom to our three year old daughter, Alexa. I have a great husband and a precious cat named Haylee. I love taking care of my home and my family. I am very much into natural health and medicine, but I bake and eat a lot of sweets! I grew up on a farm in Iowa and now I am very much at home in San Diego.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking a wide variety of cookies, cakes and candies, that is my specialty. I also love making homemade cheesy broccoli soup, baked ziti, cheddar cheese fondue and macaroni and cheese.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My toddler daughter loves to help me bake. I remember watching my mother bake when I grew up and she instilled that passion to bake in me. I am thinking that my daughter will turn out the same way. She has her own apron, mini baking sheets, cookie cutters and she helps me each and every time I bake.
My cooking triumphs
I tempered chocolate and I also made soft caramels, I consider those my triumphs at the moment.
My cooking tragedies
I have been trying to make candy from scratch. I failed several times at trying to make the fondant for candy and truffle centers, I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while. I have made caramel from scratch, but I still need to work at getting the right consistency so I can wrap them or dip them in chocolate.
