I found a new new things for my kitchen that I am excited about.  1.) Kitchen Aid Salad Spinner: I wasn't really in the market for a salad spinner nor did I think I would ever own one but I am a sucker for the aqua color that matches my Kitchen Aid mixer, blender, and measuring cups. I saw the … MORE

Check this out! I made some homemade Snickers from the Candymaking cookbook I have. They are actually called "Snicks."   The process was a little time consuming, but totally worth it.   (I will write more later...!!) MORE

A few days ago I was craving a coconut cream pie. I didn't have any eggs whites or a pie crust and I really didn't want to spend the time making a pie when I would eat a few slices and likely ending up tossing the rest. (I am basically the only sweet eater in my home.)   I browsed coconu MORE

There was a time about 3 years ago when I really began to bake frequently and thought to myself, "how the heck do people create their own recipes?!" I thought that was something I would never be able to do. I found some courage and began creating some recipes over a year ago  MORE

About Me
I am a tradtional homemaker and love being a wife to a great husband and a mother to a sweet daughter. I also have a precious cat that follows me around all day. I love taking care of my home and family.I grew up on a farm in Iowa but now I am very much at home in San Diego. http://tastingmysweetcreations.blogspot.com/
My favorite things to cook
I love baking a wide variety of cookies, cakes and candies as baking is my specialty. I also have been branching out and making different dinner foods and bread. I enjoy grilling vegetables and bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter loves to help me bake. I remember watching my mother bake when I grew up and she instilled that passion to bake in me. My daughter is destined to have a love for baking and has her own apron, mini baking sheets, cookie cutters. She helps me each and every time I baking in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I can temper chocolate and I can make caramels, I consider those my triumphs at the moment since it can be tricky to work with chocolate and caramel at times.
My cooking tragedies
I have been trying to make candy from scratch. I failed several times at trying to make the fondant for candy and truffle centers, I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while.
