I'm a wife to my high school sweetheart and celebrating 19th anniversary in December. I have 4 amazing daughters whom I homeschool. My life is busy training my girls in the Lord and making our home a sanctuary of love.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking anything new and exciting for family & friends. I love to entertain and make foods that wow our guests. Baking cookies and treats for my husbands office is also something I do on a regular basis.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a Mom of 4 daughters, I have feel it's my responsibility to teach them to be confident in the kitchen. Each of my girls,(ages 16,13,11&6) take turn do one-on-one cooking with me on a weekly basis. When they feel confident in following through on the directions, they are given the opportunity to make the dish for the family. The older girls make the recipe pretty much on their own and the two younger girls get supervised. Once they can make the dish by themselves, they add the recipe to their own special recipe box.
My cooking triumphs
I've had many times when I've served dishes that have just wowed our guests. I just love when they can't stop saying..."Oh my gosh..wow....this is so good!" I can say that many of my recipes come from Taste of Home Cookbooks and from All Recipe that have amazing reviews. But my proudest...I had a recipe published in a Gooseberry Patch Cookbook. The "What's For Dinner" cookbook, page 208 - "Sweet Decadence".
My cooking tragedies
Okay....my very first meal after our honeymoon. Yup...not a good start. My husband's mom makes this amazing Sausage Gravy with Biscuit recipe. I'm sure you all know how to make the basic white sauce. I followed the recipe to the "T" and it was not coming out. I forgot to write down that you have to add the milk...it took years before I tried it again. When I got the nerve to make it again, I called my mother-in-law and asked her about the recipe and realized what I was forgetting in the recipe. After 18 yrs. of marriage, I can say that I've mastered it and we enjoy Sausage Gravy with Biscuits about once a month!
