About this Cook
I'm a wife to my high school sweetheart and celebrating 19th anniversary in December. I have 4 amazing daughters whom I homeschool. My life is busy training my girls in the Lord and making our home a sanctuary of love.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking anything new and exciting for family & friends. I love to entertain and make foods that wow our guests. Baking cookies and treats for my husbands office is also something I do on a regular basis.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a Mom of 4 daughters, I have feel it's my responsibility to teach them to be confident in the kitchen. Each of my girls,(ages 16,13,11&6) take turn do one-on-one cooking with me on a weekly basis. When they feel confident in following through on the directions, they are given the opportunity to make the dish for the family. The older girls make the recipe pretty much on their own and the two younger girls get supervised. Once they can make the dish by themselves, they add the recipe to their own special recipe box.
My cooking triumphs
I've had many times when I've served dishes that have just wowed our guests. I just love when they can't stop saying..."Oh my gosh..wow....this is so good!" I can say that many of my recipes come from Taste of Home Cookbooks and from All Recipe that have amazing reviews. But my proudest...I had a recipe published in a Gooseberry Patch Cookbook. The "What's For Dinner" cookbook, page 208 - "Sweet Decadence".
My cooking tragedies
Okay....my very first meal after our honeymoon. Yup...not a good start. My husband's mom makes this amazing Sausage Gravy with Biscuit recipe. I'm sure you all know how to make the basic white sauce. I followed the recipe to the "T" and it was not coming out. I forgot to write down that you have to add the milk...it took years before I tried it again. When I got the nerve to make it again, I called my mother-in-law and asked her about the recipe and realized what I was forgetting in the recipe. After 18 yrs. of marriage, I can say that I've mastered it and we enjoy Sausage Gravy with Biscuits about once a month!

Guacamole
Amazingly delish! Made for company last night and they loved it. I'm making it again today, we just didn't have enough of it. So easy to make. I've made guac before and was very disappointed, I'm so glad to have this no fail recipe to add to my folder!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake
I've decided to perfect my cheesecake baking skills this year. And I chose this recipe for January. I was not disappointed! Amazingly creamy! Excellent choice for a special dinner party. I did the water bath method on this cheesecake to keep from cracking the top. The only thing I'd do different would be to add more sauce in the center portion and to have a plan for the top swirls. I think if I'd planned ahead, the top would have come out prettier. I did use melted white chocolate along with the sauce to garnish the plate. Awesome!!!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies
I baked these cookies exactly as written. They were good but not exceptional. I honestly think that the candy is what makes the cookie. The actual cookie part was really not spectacular, kind of bland. I think the idea is wonderful and very pretty. I'd like to find a better Peanut Butter Cookie recipe and try that next time with the peanut butter cups. It was very rich but being baked in small bite size portions in a mini muffin pan helps. Thank you for sharing the idea.
