I'm a 26 year old student/actor living in Coquitlam, BC, with my boyfriend, our dog Sasha and our kitten Sid Vicious. I cook whenever I have the time and whenever the mood inspires me, which is typically every night. I'm constantly trying to gain weight and I find cooking your own meals and desserts is the best and most cost-effective way to do so.
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill, all mexican dishes, things that can make vegetables I don't like taste good, cookies and cakes (which is pretty much the extent of my baking ability), southern dishes - my family's from Georgia (cajun, creole, soul food, etc.), seafood dishes... pretty much anything I like to eat! I'm pretty traditional in my tastes and kind of lame in some areas - for example, I don't really like fruit with meat, or strawberries in my salad, or mango in my salsa, etc. - but I love finding recipes that combine ingredients in a way that I think is unusual or I won't like, only to find out it is delicious... my taste horizons are forever expanding...
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and dad make a killer Pulled Pork, my mom can bake lots of good stuff, my dad introduced me to clam chowder... my mom grew up in Georgia so I inherited a lot of her Southern tastes (and recipes).
My cooking triumphs
My Mexican Chicken Corn Chowder is adored by all, I love my Kung Pao Chicken, I make my mini cheesecakes for... well, for myself :p all the time...
My cooking tragedies
Umm... let's see... a roast that turned out tough as nails, a steak marinade that was WAAAAY too spicy, salsa that was waaaay too spicy, chocolate cake that was dry and not fudgy at all.... and this is just in the last few weeks. :-p
