Giraffe Love
About this Cook
I love to cook. I have catered a few times, and I of course make a banquet anytime we have company. But mostly I just like to cook. We almost never have the same thing twice. There are a few old standbys, like brushetta and caprese salad, california rolls, and thai stirfry. Those I keep the same time after time, but everything else is open to change!
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook anything with veggies. Straight from the garden is preferable, and sometimes I just randomly chop them into things, or puree them and add them to sauces. You never know when you will get a hint of Zucchini in the tomato bisque! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ahh, the Thanksgiving drunken turkey... he can't drive, but who cares? And no-bake cookies. I don't know why, but my brother makes them the best. Same recipe, *I think* same technique, but his are lightyears better then anyone else!
My cooking triumphs
I have replicated the Ahi Tuna appetizer from the Bonefish Grill, and the lamb chops from Wolfgang Puck, and the very BEST would be pan fried cheesy grit cakes that I have made even better by topping with a seafood gumbo... YUM-E!
My cooking tragedies
Where to start? My mother put me on a chair when I was five and started me cooking. I have burned, schorched, over salted, under sweetened, over sweetened, and in general ruined thousands of dishes. But every one is a learning experience! My kids won't eat anything brown after the brown soup tragedy of 2005. (even the flies wouldn't land on it, the dog sniffed it and went and hid... I am unfortunately not exagerating) My husband ate it. He is a real trooper... and I no longer rely on his opinion only when making new things!

Wisconsin Native's Beer Cheese Soup
WOW. This was yum. I understand that some people may think a dark beer is not to their liking (Some people just dont like dark beer.) And, there are some people who would taint the fine bouquet of a good cheddar with Velveeta. (Shame.) But, I liked it just the way it was and so did the other 26 people I fed it to. (Wasn't a drop left, infact one guy was putting away the pan and licking it all the way there!) Great Recipe. When the soup outshines the main meal you know you got a winner! ..... and on a side note, cut up ham would really make this a *meal*.

Deidra's Hot Wings
I would have to say that I have never had baked hotwings before and liked the idea of less calories and fat (since that is why we do not have hotwings more often!) BUT, these were pale, in flavor and consistency, almost like they were boiled or something. I liked the marinadine idea so when I tried to make them the second time I put them in a bag with cajun seasoning and garlic spices, and let them sit there sealed over night. I baked them at the higher temp like other reviews said, to get the crisp finish. Then I shook half in hot sauce and the other half in a hot sauce/BBQ mixture and served with bleu cheese. THAT was yummy! And not fried! My son and husband who always want wings are so happy that they can have them now! Thanks for the recipe!

Sausage Balls
I would have given it four stars... but then my son and husband would have had a fit! THEY LOVED THIS!! Served it with a honey mustard dipping sauce... thought I would *try it out before taking it out* ... and it is a keeper!
