My husband Richard and I have been married since May 2007. We're hoping to start a family soon. We both love to cook. Growing up, my family always ate bland foods because of my picky sisters. My husband is an excellent cook, and he uses all kinds of spices and herbs. I always thought I was a good cook, but by changing some of my mother's recipes very slightly, they are now much tastier. My husband says I'm getting to be a much better cook. One of my favorite things is when we're both in the kitchen cooking together.
My favorite things to cook
My husband makes an awesome pizza from scratch, chicken parmesan and quesadillas. I enjoy cooking meats, breads and pasta, and he does the Mexican and Chinese.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom has some excellent recipes from my grandmother- homemade noodles and rolls, a jello salad with cheese and pineapple, and stromboli just to name a few. Growing up we always had a large garden and canned a lot of what was grown. We always used a lot of fresh tomato juice, and I am now using that as well as Prego.
My cooking triumphs
I love cooking something for my husband and family and hearing them rave over how good it is. Having been married for only a year and a half, there are some things I've attempted to make for the time. Most of them have turned out great. Like my potato salad, chicken pot pie, vegetable soup, lasagna, broccoli and rice casserole (which my husband calls my 'specialty dish.')
