About this Cook
My name is Deborah Rogers and I am a working mom who likes to cook quick and easy recipes. I also love to bake. I have won a few baking contests. I am married to a great guy and have a very active 4 year old son, Sean. He is my life. I also play the piano for my church and like to sing. Happy cooking everyone!
My favorite things to cook
Comfort foods and desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my grandma is one of my favorite memories. She taught me everything there is to know about southern cooking. We also have some family recipes that will be with us forever. Like my mom's lasagna, stuffing, gravy and pumpkin pie, or my grandma's fried fish & shrimp with beans and rice. Couldn't ask for anything better!
My cooking triumphs
Have won 2 bake offs with a pumpkin cake and apple pie. Also won a chili cook-off.
My cooking tragedies
I marinated a beautiful piece of sirloin steak in just balsamic vinegar. I forgot to add a sweetener. It was aweful and the whole thing went in the trash. The dog wouldn't even eat it!

Oven Pot Roast
I have never cooked a roast in the oven before, so I thought I would try this one since it got such great reviews. This was easy and very, very good. Had some friends over for dinner and they loved it. I usually use the crock pot for roasts, but this recipe takes the prize for the best roast I ever put in my mouth. It was so tender! I used wine instead of vermouth and it came out great!

Gulliver's Cream Corn
Easy & delic! I used a 16 oz pckg of frozen corn and scaled back the other ingredients to serve for my family. It will definitely be used in my house for a long time!
