Lilly Bell
About this Cook
My mom was a cook for several years in restaurants and has taught me well. Besides a love of cooking, I have two children (white "Lassie" Collies) to take care of. Their names are Molly and Lilly and I call them my Lollies. I like to garden and my favorite is planting shallots, onions, garlic and cucumbers. My husband loves potatoes so I call him Spud-man in the garden.
My favorite things to cook
Soups, Stews and Casseroles, Stand up Chicken, Roasts
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional meat and potato meals for Dad. When he was out of town, Mom made stuffed peppers, casseroles, pizza,, all the goodies my Dad would not eat.
My cooking triumphs
Thanks to my mom, I've never produced Lumpy gravy.
My cooking tragedies
When broiling lobsters I noticed the self cleaning switch on the oven which I swung shut locking the stove door. I had no idea what compelled me to do this. My husband had to unplug the stove to interrupt the self cleaning process and the door would not open until the temperature dropped. We had scorched lobsters that night.

Grandma's Rice
I was looking for a great rice recipe to serve with Filet Mignon or Prime Rib ( to mimic a favorite restaurant) and this is it ! I added green pepper slices but that was the only thing.. this is a wonderful dish.

Best Steak Marinade in Existence
I love this recipe because you have most of the ingredients in house and ... it truly is the best steak marinade I have ever used.

Easy Never Forgotten Guacamole
This is wonderful with Cream cheese and the salsa. I was out of sour cream and frankly bored with my usual recipe. I served this with Chicken fahitas and it was fantastic. This is now my favorite recipe. Oh.. if you make up before hand, press plastic wrap directly onto the guacamole and cover. Your guacamole won't brown this way - and this recipe held up the next day for leftovers.. I've never had that in other guacamole dips.. Usually I would toss whatever was left.
