My name is Scott I am a Computer Network Administrator by day “Computer Nerd” and a chef by night. I enjoy cooking mostly gourmet dishes for my family and friends there is just something about platting and garnishing that I enjoy. I am a single father of two wonderful daughters I am now trying to get them in the kitchen and show them how to cook. I have been cooking for many years and enjoy trying and making new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy cooking Italian food, there are so many combinations to Italian that you can use. I am also experimenting with Japanese cuisines but still in the starter faze here and have not come up with too many recipes on my own.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Really the only family tradition is my mother’s recipe for stuffing that has been handed down for years. It is a buttermilk corn bread stuffing recipe with or without oysters that is cooked not in the turkey and is not to dry and not to running but just right. Yum!!!
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean Jack Daniels and Cinnamon Apple Pie with vanilla and cinnamon whipped cream for the topping – That I came up with the other day but I found you have to be careful with the bourbon thought because a little too much and you will need to take the keys up from the people eating it lol…
I also I make a great – Shrimp and squash Linguini
My cooking tragedies
One night I was cooking tuna steaks and had just put the tuna in the skillet to sear it when someone knocked on the door. I went to the door and it was a neighbor.
Well I forgot to turn the fire down on the stove so my sauté pan kind of overheated this caused a chain reaction to the tuna that caused it to smoke and smoke and smoke.
By the time I could get back to the stove to take it off the fire the whole kitchen was smoked up and the lovely smell of burned fish well it took me three weeks for the smell to leave the house lol..
I also have a bad habit of not measuring out the ingredients that I use and mostly just pull them out of the top of my head. Which makes it hard the next time I want to make the dish again. I am slowly learning to write things down…
