About this Cook
I'm a mother to 3 very active preschoolers and finding interesting and nutritious meals for them is my main challenge! Recently we joined a CSA, community sponsored agriculture, where we get a box of fresh veggies every week. Allrecipes.com has been essential in finding new fun ways to prepare the wide variety we get. From beets to zucchini, I live on this site!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking. Or maybe I just love to eat the things I bake. Mmmmm....
My cooking tragedies
My greatest cooking tragedy was Thanksgiving 1999. I was dating a nice man and had invited his family to my apartment for Thanksgiving dinner. This sounds so cliche! I had everything ready from green bean casserole to mashed potatoes. Even the turkey looked great, brown and crisp on top. But as we sat to eat and my boyfriend's father started to carve the turkey, he found the bottom of the turkey was essentially raw. The bottom element of the oven had broken and while the top of the turkey cooked and looked wonderful...the underside was raw and bloody. It was truly awful and an omen to the relationship....it had ended by the next spring.

Yellow Squash and Zucchini Delight
I followed pettit04's advice...kind of. I added lots of pepper and some Lawry's seasoned salt. It was wonderful! I'm not a big cabbage fan, but found the flavor mellowed when combined with the zucchini, squash and onion.

Fennel in Wine and Honey
I did not care for this recipe. The bulbs were tough even after simmering for over 45min. And the honey and wine were completely overwhelmed by the flavor of the fennel.
