About this Cook
I am a 31 year old mother of three (4, nearly 2, & 8 months) & wife of a wonderful man. I started cooking at an early age with my three older sisters to help out our mom around the house. My grandmother was a P.E. teacher and Home Economics teacher and collected cookbooks for years, and now I have many of her old cookboooks and recipes she liked to cook. I'm not an expert cook, but I enjoy it and am trying to get better. I'm also trying to be a "greener" human. Starting cloth diapering and going to plant a vegetable garden as soon as I can.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, but also love making family recipes. I am always asked to make King Ranch Chicken and I can be depended on to bring Jalapeno Corn to any family gathering. My mother-in-law's chocolate chip cookies are the best and my 4 year old & I make those whenever we can. I love experimenting with cheesecake recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love having my 4 year old help me in the kitchen whenever possible. I can remember watching my great-grandmother make her Turkey Supreme in a giant roaster oven, and I was fascinated. I thought that recipe was lost after she died, no one seemed to have it. But I found it in a recipe box from my oldest sister's home economics class that she left in my closet when she moved out. That was a great find!!
