About this Cook
I'm a teacher turned floral designer who loves to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I'll try almost anything. Baking is one of my favorite things to do, but I really like to experiement with entrees.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving brings wonderful memories of making Grandma Beckham's cornbread dressing, Ahhh! the aroma. We make great holiday cookies and fruitcakes from recipes passed down. And, being from Texas, we make a mean supper of brisket, pinto beans, potato salad, and homemade sourdough rolls.
My cooking triumphs
Recently, I got a flan recipe from allrecipes.com and made it. It was absolutely "to-die-for". When I was teaching I made all kinds of pies for my fellow teachers for the holidays. That was so much fun.
My cooking tragedies
When I was engaged to be married, I made a peach cobbler. It smelled so good while it was baking. My fiance put a forkful into his mouth and looked at me with a confused expression. I had used salt instead of sugar.

Artichoke Cheese Dip
This dip has an elegant & delicious flavor. I only got to bake it for 20 minutes being crunched for time, but it was still good. I think I will double it next time and cut the mayo a bit.

Orange Cream Fruit Salad
This salad tasted alright, but it does not appeal to the eye. I took it to a fellowship and someone thought it was potato salad. Even though I had it on the dessert table, people were still confused. I wouldn't make it again.

Applesauce Raisin Cookies I
This is wonderful recipe. The cookies are like little cakes in texture. I halved the recipe and it worked out fine. Enjoy!!
