About this Cook
I'm a california girl who never thought I would cook or enjoy cooking for that matter. I was lucky enough to grow up in a house with a dad who's strongest passion in life, is cooking. I so was blessed with being able to experience all types of food, from gourmet to BBQ. So you can imagine the difficulty I had when I got married and was left to fend for myself! Luckily, about 6 months into my marriage I caught the cooking bug, and I have never looked back. When I am not focusing on graduate school and work, I love to be in the kitchen cooking up something new. My husband is just over the moon. He married me thinking he was going to be eating take out for the rest of his life! So you can imagine the excitment he gets each night when he comes home to find something new on the table! I love love love this website and without it I would be lost. It has thought me so much, and I am forever grateful!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook healthy, quick weeknight meals. I also really enjoy baking and making cupcakes :) Finding new ways to spice up chicken is always a favorite too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making christmas cookies with my sister and watching my dad cook anything.
My cooking triumphs
Baked ziti, chicken pot pie, and lemon cupcakes all from scratch. A year ago these would not have been possible! :)
My cooking tragedies
Ugh....anything my cat won't eat. (She eats everything, including red licorice.)

Saucy Apple Pork Chops
These were great. I didn't have regular apple sauce so I used the cinnamon apple sauce and it came out perfect. Very tender and juicy.

Cinnamon Rice with Apples
I think it was a little too sweet for a side dish. It almost tasted like apple pie! Which idn't a bad thing, but with dinner it might have been too much. Also my rice took a really long time too cook, so I would adjust the time for softer rice.

Gooey Butter Cookies
These were super yummmy. I used lemon cake mix and lemon extract. I also made the dough the night before and then baked them. Although I did this because I was short on time :)
