When I was a kid, I made sugar cookies one year for the holidays. I had great intentions; however, it turned into a disaster. I followed the directions and baked them for about 10 minutes. Once the cookies were out of the oven, they had to cool. I picked one up and bit into it. I thought I was going to lose a tooth! They were as hard as rocks. I gave one to my pit bull and he couldn't even break the cookie! He spit it out as if I tried to feed him rocks! Needless to say, I never made that sugar cookie recipe again.
