I'm a high school stdent in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) academy. I'm a nerd, and proud of it. But besides that stuff, I love to read and write fiction (hopefully someday I will get paid for this), play my violin, and cook.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake desserts. Cookies, cakes, pies, you name it, but my specialty is in cookies. Snickerdoodles, to be precise. :) But when I'm not baking, I like to experiment with main dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom never really knew how to cook until she met my dad. He taught her how, and then he stopped cooking. A few years later, mom introduced me to the kitchen, and now she doesn't cook anymore. Are you sensing a pattern here?
My cooking triumphs
When I won first place in a snickerdoodle off in 7th grade!!!
My cooking tragedies
When I was first starting to cook, and we didn't have any more molasses. I was trying to make ginger cookies, and I used brown sugar and honey as a substitute. The resulting cookies tasted right, but they were hard enough to break a tooth on.
And then there was that time when I designed my own pumpkin carving, and I was so proud of the elaborate picture, that I waited too long to use the pumpkin parts for my pumpkin cookies. The whole batch was wasted...
