My name is Shar and I am a real live stay at home mom! I love being able to stay home with my 8 year old daughter. I don't think we stay-at-homes get the respect we deserve! Being home, I have extra time to devote to good nutrition and healthy living. That's not to say that I don't enjoy making desserts and indulging in bad stuff. In fact, I think if I could prepare junk for my family all day long I would! But eating healthy is becoming my top priority these days! I've been coming to allrecipes for years! I love most everything I try. I love the format and I love poking around on here.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook everything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have many traditions that I'm trying to pass on to my daughter. Each Christmas we make a gingerbread house. For New Years eve, we always have home made pizza. For Easter we decorate eggs. Halloween is about making pies with the guts of Jacks. And Thanksgiving is about eating and feasting and being with family. Food has always been an important aspect in my life. And I'm happy to pass recipes on to my next generation.
My cooking triumphs
Some days, EVERYTHING is a triumph! Every bite of food that my family eats is a triumph. Each day is a blessing and the food we nourish our bodies with is a gift. We should look on every meal with love and gratitude.
My cooking tragedies
Indeed, with success there comes failures. The worst I think was when I was a kid in HomeEc class. We were making cheese fondue and while my helper piddled picking up our ingredients, I burned the butter. It didn't ruin the fondue, but everyone sure did have a nice stare as the teacher made the whole class watch us as we ate our cheese dip. It was a little darker, but the way that teacher treated us was terrible and humiliating. Remember, it's not really a tragedy if you can laugh about the smoke detector going off! Dinner AND a show is extra! :)
