Cooking is my passion, and I'm always being asked for my recipes. I collect cookbooks, although my favorite recipes are the ones passed down. Growing up both my Grandmothers were caterers and fabulous cooks, I loved watching them in the kitchen. Now I have twins and a baby girl to pass on the recipes to, and help me in the kitchen. When I met my Italian husband I wanted to impress him so much with my cooking that I went to an Italian cooking school for classes, it was a lot of fun and I learned so much. I also love to garden and enjoy cooking with things that come from it.
My favorite things to cook
Bread, cakes and cookies always seem to only last the day in our house.Of course cooking Italian dishes seeing as I'm surrounded by Italians :) and love to impress them with my cooking skills. Roast chicken is another although simple it's such a comfort food. I love trying to recreate recipes I try at restaurants.I like trying the food of many cultures. I have been making a lot of Curries lately having grown up with Jamaican friends and a Trinidadian girlfriend it's a real comfort food for me and takes me back. Greek is another favorite that we eat at least once a week in our house, I have become an expert at making pita bread to serve with the meals. I especially love traditional Mexican style dishes and have a few cookbooks and recipes I treasure on Mexican cooking I also have a great local Mexican grocer that gives me some delectable recipes to try.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Dad comes from a very large family and we are always getting together for dinner and special occasions. Dinners turn into one large feast, where everyone brings there favorite dishes to share. I have made several dishes from allrecipes to bring and they are always a hit and usually get asked for the recipe! Growing up we went to my Grans almost every weekend for Sunday night dinner, anything that reminds me of her divine cooking brings an instant smile to my face and warms my heart.Weekend pizza and a movie night is our family fun night, I love letting the kids help make the pizzas we have so much fun. Sunday brunch has become a regular thing in our house we talk laugh and listen to music and I'm always looking for delectable recipe to bring to the table, many of which I have found on here.
My cooking triumphs
I'm married to a fussy Italian eater, whose mother lovingly slaved all day in the kitchen making everything from scratch as he grew up. In the last 2 years my husband has said I'm a better cook than his ever so talented Momma, let me tell you that is some feat for an Italian boy to say your cooking is better than Momma use to make! Also being asked for my ciabatta bread recipe and Osso Bucon con Polenta recipe by his auntie from Italy.
