About this Cook
Hello :) My name is Diane. I'm 17. And I'm a complete foodie. I play hockey and have a keen interest in photography & cooking, esspecially when they're mixed. Food Porn, as I like to call it. I have many accounts online: flickr.com/hockeydiane/ deviantart.com/dianeish/ myspace.com/diane-ish Feel free to contact me (:
My favorite things to cook
I love baking. I've often thought about opening a little bake shop from my kitchen, but I want presentation and overall recipes to be better before then. As of now, I feed whomever will test. Birthdays, hockey team, friends and christmas gifts for family. I'm starting to move away from baking into cooking, which is great. At home I make dinner a few times a week, which is actually really good for when I have to move out: my mother will miss me!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Eating fresh things. My grandma had a garden with tomatoes, asparagus, corn, carrots, raspberry's and a bunch of other things. I remember being sent out in the late afternoon to get dinner. :)
My cooking triumphs
A lot of my baking has been amazing/to die for. I have this website to thank for that.
My cooking tragedies
Too embarrassing to share ;D

Black Magic Cake
Followed to a Tee. Amazing! It has the right colour too- not the light colour you get from other mixes. Beats a box mix by miles... No contest. I made it with my own coffee buttercream recipe... to DIE for. The best part is that it's so easy! Really is a one bowl recipe. Moist and has a weight, but not dense. Really is the perfect texture for a cake. I 40 minutes for 2 9" was perfect. Going to make these into cupcakes soon... Thank you!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
This was amazing! I've only made it the once and my god. I also added a glaze which was ***1/6 cup butter (melted to a golden brown on the stove) then added to 1 cup icing sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and water for consistency. *** yum. The changes I made were 2cups white sugar (not 3) and 1/2 cup oil + 1/2 cup apple sauce, and a tsp vanilla. Even the batter was delicious. I'll make this for christmas, for sure (images to follow!)

Apple Crumble Pie
Very good! I took the suggestions from the front page, though I'll probably add more cinnamon next time and cook at a lower temperature. the crumble was more of a crust (: I also used 5 apples, but next time I'll use more.. You notice it in the pictures: there really isn't a lot of apple filling. or at least not enough to meet my standards for an apple crumble pie ;) Will make again!
