I'm a Welsh girl living in Gibraltar, in love with Spanish food!
I live with my husband and our 3 gorgeous cats in a colonial apartment - no outside area, so eating al fresco is normally done in...a lovely Spanish restaurant or tapas bar... I'm not daft!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking most things but often don't have the time, or during high summer, just find it too hot and uncomfortable. I'm not a great salad lover, so I hand the reins over to the other half!
I love devising new soups, depending on the ingredients in my cupboard and fridge - sometimes they're the things that taste the best!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas lunch - with as many vegetables as I can source, but certainly roast potatoes, roast parsnips, (both in goose fat, of course!) cauli cheese, runner beans and cabbage plus plenty of meats; rib of beef, pork, turkey and possibly the ham left over from Christmas breakfast (which is traditionally served with fried eggs - yum!). Maybe a goose (again if we can source one).
I also have a great line in soups and when the weather is cooler we like a nice chunky bowl of soup (well, probably more like a stew!) and some home made bread. Delicious!
My cooking triumphs
Christmas days!
My cooking tragedies
The worst I can think of was forgetting to put the jacket potatoes in the oven at one informal dinner party... oops! And recently I experimented with Spanish meatballs (albondigas) and OD'd on the breadcrumbs... not too tasty! Version 2 was much more successful!
