About this Cook
SAHM My husband is currently attending college and a disabled Airforce Vet. I live in Cleveland, OH. but originally from Virginia Beach, VA. I love collecting cookbooks, especially the older ones. Most of my cookbooks range from the 1920's to 1970's.
My favorite things to cook
My chili, stuffed cabbage, chow mein and stir fry
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't know about cooking traditions... my great-grandmother raised me so I cook from scratch on 99% of things, and I cook alot of "peasant" foods. I am always trying new recipes except anything that has the word "surprise" in the title..my husband won't touch it if it does!
My cooking triumphs
I came up with my own BBQ sauce which I can change from spicy to tangy and sweet with just a few tweaks of the ingredients. I learned how to can a couple of years ago and am quite proud of my jelly and green tomato salsa!
My cooking tragedies
I cannot boil rice ( I have a rice cooker) I ALWAYS overcook the brownies =( and don't ask about the peanut brittle that came out more like peanut brick ball! When I took home ec in the 7th grade I made macaroni salad for my family and undercooked (crunchy) the noodles!

Curried Coconut Chicken
Follow the recipe to the letter. I think it should be made with sweetened coconut milk. I used mild curry powder and this was flavorless. But I noticed that others commented on how bland it was. I agree with the other reviewer who suggested the curry, onions and spices cook for much longer before adding anything else to it. I would also add a second can of tomatoes. Thank you for the recipe.

Slow Cooker Carolina BBQ
I haven't had anything this good since I left Virginia Beach! This is a tasty pulled pork Carolina bbq sandwich alright. Doesn't get much better than this!
