My favorite family cooking traditions
American, Nigerian & Jamaican food are what our family is traditionally about. Mom is American, Dad is Nigerian, and my husband is Jamaican so I have many different cravings to satisfy. Our family also enjoys foods from other cultures that are similar to our cuisine like: Indian, middle eastern, mediterainian, asian, french/creole & english....We like to keep it spicy!!!!!!!!!!!
My cooking triumphs
My husband has 1,000,000,000 allergies. Ok, not really, but he's allergic to milk, nuts, corn and corn bi-products and extreemly sensitive to molasses, and brown sugar. I've been able to make almost any recipe without these ingrediants and still keep the falvor of the orig. recipe. I've served it to people who have no allergies and they didn't know that they were eating foods prepaired with these allergies in mind:
No milk baked Mac n cheese
No Corn Starch gravies and pies
No Corn Starch frostings (powdered sugar has corn starch)
No Milk pancakes, biscuts
No Milk/no cornsyrup breads
the list goes on and on
My cooking tragedies
well... a lot of trial and error on the allergy food lol and lets not talk about the number of rock hard biscuts from when I was a little girl...lol....burned dishes from falling asleep or putting it on low and leaving the house "cuz i'll be right back" lol
