I really enjoy spending time with friends and family, and it always seems like the best get togethers are always centered around some type of food! Just recently I went back to school to finish my degree in Elementary Education; I start my senior year at K-State this fall. Other than cooking and spending time with family and friends, I really enjoy spending time riding our horses.
My favorite things to cook
I really love to bake desserts more than anything, but I also get a lot of satisfaction from putting together a great meal. My favorite thing to bake are my Great-Great-Grandma's Blue Ribbon Brownies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every sunday my 12-year old daughter and I cook up a big brunch style meal.
My cooking triumphs
I had some of my husband's fellow soldiers over for dinner and made Caribbean Jerk Kabobs with Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, and vegetables, grilled corn, grilled onions, and loaded baked potatoes. I was a little nervous since this was the first time I grilled an entire meal, but it turned out perfect!
My cooking tragedies
I know I had several when I was first learning to cook, but I can't think of any that stick out in my mind. I think I remember switching the sugar amounts with the flour amounts in my brownies once; those were pretty gross. Lately, any tragedies are just if the meal doesn't meet my expectations. My husband loves everything, so he is hard to use as a judge, but great for self-confidence!
