Rainbow Rotini Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
This is a very easy and tasty pasta salad! I loved the colors of all the fresh veggies. I used yellow pepper instead of green (all I had!) and grape tomatoes instead of whole ones. I also omitted the mushrooms, as my family doesn't care for them. It is very good as is, and even better with some chopped imitation crab meat tossed in! Thanks for sharing; I will make this again!

Lime Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
These muffins need a little work to make them taste like something. The batter was also very thick; it is no wonder that the muffins themselves are so dense. I ended up adding some limeade concentrate and a little more milk to these muffins to boost the flavor and to make the batter a little more manageable. Even with a glaze, these muffins were not what I was looking for. With my changes, the flavor was great, but the texture was not good. Thanks for sharing; it is a great idea!

B and L's Strawberry Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
I found this smoothie to be pretty bland, and lacking in strawberry flavor. It did have a nice, frothy consistency, though. I substituted honey for the sugar, and added a little less, because honey is much sweeter! I also had to cut back on the amount of ice, because the smoothie was somewhat tasteless. I ended up adding about five extra strawberries, and even so, I've tasted better smoothies. Sorry, but I won't be making this again!

Nutty Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
This is such a easy and tasty salad! I used leaf lettuce instead of romaine, and sliced almonds instead of slivered. I also didn't chill the dressing, and it turned out just fine. My family really seemed to like this salad. Thanks for sharing!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
These are so good! I make them at least once after we go strawberry picking. I have found that they taste better when dipped in a sweeter chocolate; if the chocolate is to bitter, it overpowers the sweetness of the strawberry. I also like to drizzle them with white chocolate; they look so pretty!

Caramelized-Onion Pork

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
This was an awesome pork dish! Not only is it easy to make, the taste is fabulous! The only thing I might do next time I make this recipe is to make more onions for the top, as several people in my family really love caramelized onions, and there weren't quite enough to go around. Thanks for a simple and yummy recipe!!

Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
After trying a creamy poppyseed dressing on a strawberry spinach salad at a friend's house, I loved it so much that I had to try making my own! Although this dressing was a little different than the one I had tried, I liked it even better. Even the really picky eaters in my family liked this dressing! I used it on a strawberry, spinach, and pecan salad, and the taste was so simple, yet so yummy! I used dry minced onion in the recipe, as I wasn't quite sure what the grated onion that was called for was. Thanks for sharing, I will definitely make this again!

Molded Peach Gelatin

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
This salad has a wonderful flavor, but when made as written, it is way too sweet. Be careful to use nutmeg that is ground very fine; mine wasn't ground up quite enough, there were tiny crunchy bits throughout the salad. I doubled the recipe to fit into my Jello mold. Thanks for sharing!

Pea 'n' Crab Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
This is such a simple and delicious pasta salad! I skipped the feta cheese because I don't care for it, and I used small shell pasta instead of medium. These were the only changes I made, and this was so good! I will be making this one again. Thanks!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This is a very easy and yummy pizza crust! I did have to add extra flour as my dough was very sticky. I used some whole wheat flour in my dough as well, and next time I make it, I will probably add more, as no one even noticed. Thanks for sharing such and easy and tasty recipe!

Mediterranean Lentil Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This was a pretty tasty salad. I liked the combination of flavors, but it wasn't quite flavorful enough. I liked the crunch that the celery gave to the salad; I also liked that the other vegetables were cooked with the lentils and spices for more flavor. Although this salad is a little bland, it is very healthy, so thanks for sharing!

Southwestern Rice and Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
As is, this salad is a little bland. After trying it exactly as written and finding it lacking in flavor, I added more cumin and a couple shakes of cayenne pepper. This greatly improved the flavor, and made this salad delicious! I also used regular salsa instead of picante sauce and frozen corn instead of canned. Altogether, with these changes, this is a salad I would make again!

Mexican Bean and Rice Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This is a wonderful salad! The combination of flavors is great; the lime gives the salad a wonderfully light, refreshing taste. Because my family doesn't care for spicy things (and because I didn't have any!) I omitted the jalapeno peppers, but this is still a very tasty, easy to make salad. Thanks for sharing!

The Best Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
These are the first stuffed mushrooms I've ever eaten. They were very easy to make, but the flavors were very, very strong. The filling by itself was delicious, but it didn't seem to combine with the flavor of the mushroom very well. My mom and I ate them, and liked them to an extent, but no one else in my family cared for these. Thanks for sharing, but I think I will try a different recipe next time.

Crispy Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Dill Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
This salad was pretty good, but I felt that it was rather watery, with not quite enough flavor. I used a regular onion instead of red, because that is all I had. I also used dried dill and cut the amount in half because it has a stronger flavor. Altogether, I liked the combinations of flavor/texture, but if I make it again, I will definitely do something to make it more flavorful.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
With a few changes, this is a five star recipe! After reading the reviews of a few others, I used 8 bone-in pork chops and doubled the sauce. To keep the chops tender, I browned them in a pan, and then layered the partially cooked meat in the slow cooker, covering each piece with some of the sauce. For the sauce, I cut the soy sauce and ginger amounts in half and added a couple tablespoons of honey. After the pork chops were done (I cooked them for about 8 hours, and they were falling off the bone; so tender!) I removed them from the crockpot and then thickened the sauce in a pan with some cornstarch. My family really enjoyed these. I would probably make these again!

Coffee Souffle

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
When I decided to make this today, I was a little scared that it wouldn't turn out. However, it was relatively easy to make, and turned out absolutely fantastic! It set up perfectly and tasted very, very good. I did overwhip my egg whites, but that didn't even seem to make a difference. The texture on this is wonderful, almost mousse-like. Please do not be scared of this recipe; it is wonderful!

Mandarin Almond Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
This is a very easy, tasty salad. I loved the mixture of flavors. The dressing could use a little work; I found it to be somewhat bland and not all that exciting. All in all, it is a yummy salad; I will probably make it again with a different dressing. Thanks for sharing!

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
Thanks, Beaker, this is a very good barley soup recipe! I used homemade chicken stock instead of vegetable broth, and skipped the zucchini because I didn't have any around. I had to add an extra quart of broth because the soup was extremely thick. This was very good and very flavorful. Even so, I'm not sure I will make it again; it was very good, but not "the best."

Crunchy Pumpkin Pie Granola

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2009
This is very tasty granola! My little siblings were eating straight out of the pan; they love it! One change I made was to substitute canned pumpkin (mixed with 2 tbs. of milk) for the applesauce. I was really looking forward to making this, because it sounds like such a unique and delicious recipe. I was a little disappointed, however, that it really didn't taste a whole lot like pumpkin pie. That is why I am giving it four stars. It is a very easy, healthy, and tasty granola, though. Do not hesitate to try this! Just don't expect it to taste a whole lot like pumpkin pie!
