Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
This is an incredibly simple, yet very tasty recipe. Even though it was in the crockpot all day long, it somehow still had a golden brown color! The juices made excellent gravy, and the meat was so tender that the whole chicken broke apart into five pieces when I tried to take it out of the slow cooker. Thanks for sharing this recipe...it is a winner!

Three Bean Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This is not one of the most flavorful bean salads I've ever eaten, but it was pretty good! I realized I was out of honey after I'd already started to make this, so I used corn syrup instead. I also used regular onion instead of green...that's all I had in the house. All in all, this is a pretty good salad, but I think I would try a different one next time.

Sausage French Bread Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This is a very tasty dish...most of my family really enjoyed it. Some complained that the bread got "soggy", though. I used a loaf of rustic Italian style bread, and I used bulk pork sausage instead of the Bob Evans sausage roll. I felt that the amount of pizza sauce was way off. Only half a cup for two baguette halves? I used WAY more than that. Thanks for sharing the recipe...it is super easy, and really tasty!

Black Bean Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This soup was okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special, either. I made it exactly as written...it tasted a little bland. I don't think I will be making this again!

Sesame Beef Bites

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
This recipe received mixed reviews from my very picky family...some loved it, and some hated it. Because beef tenderloin is SO expensive, I used some rib eye steak from the freezer. Rib eye is not quite as expensive as tenderloin, but it is still an excellent cut! I had two pounds of meat, so I doubled the marinade, but only used 1/3 cup of teriyaki sauce later on. I also used fresh chives from my garden instead of green onion. Because of my picky family, who hates anything remotely spicy, I skipped the chile garlic sauce. I marinated the beef for 2 hours before I broiled it. After the beef was cooked through, I transferred everything to a large skillet, and brought the liquid to a boil. I whisked about a teaspoon of cornstarch into the 1/3 cup of teriyaki sauce that I used, poured this into the skillet, and brought it back to a boil. This way, the juices adhered to the beef, and locked in all that flavor. This beef does offer a beautiful presentation...I put rice into the bowls, topped it off with some of the beef, sprinkled it with sesame seeds and chopped fresh chives, and served with Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry from this site...it was the perfect accompaniment! Thanks for sharing this recipe...it is very tasty!

Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
This was a very delicious stir fry! I made it to accompany the Sesame Beef Bites from this site, and it was the perfect side dish. To give it a more "Oriental" flavor, I used peanut oil instead of vegetable oil. I didn't have any snow peas, so I used some extra green beans instead. I look forward to trying this again with different vegetables...yum! Oh, I also didn't have fresh ginger, so I used 1/2 tsp. of ground ginger...next time, I would probably use a little more. Thanks for sharing...this one is a keeper!

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
This is such a simple, tasty recipe for chicken! I used half chicken thighs and half boneless skinless chicken breasts, and increased the amount of potatoes. I also added some chopped chives in with the topping. I loved how the chicken got that crispy, golden-brown and flavorful crust! My fries didn't really get crispy, but they were still very delicious. Thanks for sharing this one...I will make it again!

Thanksgiving Day Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
Okay, this salad tastes AMAZING, but I had some serious issues with the appearance...first of all, I chilled the mold for 6-8 hours as stated, but when I turned the thing out onto a serving platter, it was too liquid to keep the pretty shape from the mold. The only change I made was to use the jellied cranberry sauce instead of whole berry. The topping was very tasty, but I found it to be lumpy...I would suggest beating the cream cheese with the sugar and lemon juice until fluffy, and then folding in the sour cream, I will do this next time I make this, and I will also put the jello part in a bowl instead of a mold.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
These carrots are very tasty...but the sauce is very, very runny. I added some cornstarch mixed with a small amount of water while the sauce was boiling...this helped a lot, forming the juice into a glaze that coated the carrots. The only other problem I had with this recipe is that the carrots didn't take on as much orange flavor as I would have liked...all in all, this is a simple, tasty side dish that I would make again. Thanks for sharing!

Swedish Sticky Chocolate Cake (Kladdkaka)

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
This was a pretty tasty cake...it had the taste and texture of a very gooey brownie. I thought it was overly sweet, though...I served it with whipped cream, which helped cut the sweetness a little. Some of my family loved it, and some didn't like it at all. This is a very rich cake...thanks for sharing!

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
This is an easy, tasty recipe for pork chops on the grill. I was worried that they would be dry, so I made a marinade of soy sauce, apple juice, water, salt, and pepper, placed the pork chops in a large plastic bag, poured the marinade over, and put it in the fridge overnight. This really helped...the pork chops were nice and juicy! I did feel that the sauce was a little runny, though. Next time I make these, I will certainly add a little more cornstarch. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Sarah's Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
When I first decided to make this recipe, I was little dubious because the ingredients didn't seem too exciting. Boy, was I wrong! This dish was incredibly good...something that I would definitely make again! The taste/texture was similar to Rice-a-Roni, but so much better, without that packaged taste. I topped it with chopped chives for a little more color, and everyone loved it. Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Black Bean Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
This salad was pretty tasty, but seemed to be missing something...I couldn't quite figure out what, though. I didn't have quite a full 1/2 cup of cheese, that may be what was missing. The vinaigrette had a strange but not unpleasant flavor. Altogether, this was a good, healthy salad...but I don't think I will make it again.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
These are very strange yet tasty brownies. The "batter" (I have a hard time calling it that!) was very stiff and crumbly before I added the zucchini...even after I added it the batter was stiff enough that I could press it into the pan. They baked up very moist, almost like cake. The frosting is very good, but a tad sweet for my taste...the rest of my family liked them a lot, though. I did skip the nuts, because my little sister is allergic. All in all, this is a good way to use up extra zucchini, but if I make them again, I will probably use a different frosting. Thanks for sharing!

Scrumptious Penuche Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
This is such an easy, yummy frosting recipe! I made it to top some zucchini spice cupcakes...it was super yummy! I didn't have any half-and-half, so I just used milk instead. It turned out perfectly, and looked beautiful on my cupcakes. Thanks for sharing this one!

Savory Cheddar Zucchini Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
These muffins are totally awesome! I made them exactly as written and didn't have a single problem with anything. I divided the batter up among the 12 greased muffin cups (no liners, since some people had lots of problems with those!) and they seemed very full, but the muffins baked up so beautifully with nice, high, golden brown tops. The texture was wonderful, light, fluffy, buttery...just what I hoped for! Thanks so, so much for sharing this recipe! I will definitely make these again when I have zucchini to use up!

Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
What a super easy, tasty meal! My whole family enjoyed this one! I didn't have a round steak, so I used a sirloin steak instead. I used baby carrots instead of cutting up larger carrots (this made it a lot easier to put together!) and I doubled the amount of potatoes. I was out of cream of mushroom soup, so I used cream of chicken...it tasted great! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
Soft, sweet, and yummy...this is what I was looking for in a sugar cookie recipe. This one had all of those qualities, but it also had a taste of baking powder that I didn't care for. Maybe it was just me, but I found it unpleasant. If I make these again, I may reduce the amount of baking powder slightly. All in all, they are tasty, easy, pretty cookies...thanks for sharing!
