My favorite things to cook
For whatever reason, I really enjoy making quesadillas. Other than that, I like to change things up with new recipes occasionally- especially anything with vegetables that my husband will eat! No matter what it is that I'm cooking or baking, I just love the feeling I get when I have a table set with a nice home-cooked meal on it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Other than the typical Thanksgiving foods, I love how my family always does Graham bread for Thanksgiving. Also, I learned how to make meatloaf from my Grandmother, and now I only eat other peoples' meatloaf out of politeness- nothing else quite compares!
My cooking triumphs
My first time making Quesadillas (in a frying pan), my vegetarian friend who was over and eats them quite a lot said "Wow, this is a great quesadilla! It's better than the ones I make with my quesadilla maker!" Another triumph was when I was cooking for a church dinner. I didn't have what I needed for the dish I had planned on making, so I threw together the most colorful pasta salad I could, with all sorts of nice veggies, and made my own italian dressing for it. The next day, it was one of the first things gone!
My cooking tragedies
When I was in high school, my attempt at chocolate chip cookies flopped horribly. We think what happened was that I put tablespoons instead of teaspoons of baking soda. The result- cookies that smelled fantastic, but left my family with a look of horror on their faces as they taste-tested. They were hard and tasted like gobs of salty play-doh. I am proud to say, however, that I have since made that recipe several times successfully.
