I have been married for two years and have two beautiful daughters Madeline who is 16 months and Natalie who is 1 month. I have 3 stepsons: James 13, Joshua 15, and Alan II. I am a stay-at-hom mom who loves to cook for my family. My husband works at the local Sheriff's Dept. His friends and co-workers are constantly demanding he share his dinners that I send with him and always request I cook something for the potlucks. They even suggested I open my own place!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are Finger Lickin' Dixie Chicken....a family recipe that I have improved upon, New England Clam Chowder, Chocolate Oblivion Torte (a flourless chocolate cake).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition at my house is SALSA NIGHT!! My husband and I cook mexican food and everyone sings Salsa! Salsa in there most obnoxious voices. (we saw Nicole Richie do it and thought it was hysterical)
My cooking triumphs
My first thanksgiving! Trying to remember all the family recipes by heart. I had never actually cooked or baked any of them but it was successful. The really interesting part was my turkey was still frozen the day before so I found if you submerge it in water it only takes a few hours. Well it was a 25 lb turkey so I had to go out and by one of those rubbermaid totes to soak it in.
My cooking tragedies
I was 7 years old and made something called Girl Scout Stew. It was awful. Apparently I had put to much salt in it. The look on everyone's face was priceless. We then ordered pizza so it wasn't so bad...pizza was a sure treat after that travesty
