Do you ever sit at work and think about what you're cooking for dinner? Well, you might be a Foodie! Do you make shopping lists in your head while the minister is trying to save your soul? Well, YOU might be a Foodie! Do you sit down to breakfast and talk about what you're going to do for lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning...and repeat the circle for each meal every day? Well, you might be a Foodie!
THAT'S ME! :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook new dishes. I get totally excited when I come across something unique that will surely blow my arpon up!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and I are slammin' in the kitchen. We don't necessarily have a tradition, per se. However, when we get together and cook it's like a symphony. We each move so effortlessly around one another and work well together in a limited space. It's our "Kitchen Ballet" and it's simply wonderful to be able to do, as we only get to every blue moon. (She lives in Louisiana and I in Washington.) It's my treasured time, though not technically a tradition. It is a tremendously special moment when it comes to pass.
My cooking triumphs
The very first time I cooked a Chicken Enchilada recipe that my love's mom has prepared for him since he can remember. He always said that his mom's enchiladas were the best and wished he could have some. So, I called up his mom, who graciously shared the recipe with me, cooked them up whilst he was slaving away at work, and surprised him when he got home. He was surprised, both by having them there and by me doing them exactly as his mom had all his life! If you can cook like your man's mom, then hey, isn't that the best compliment? Because their mom is whom they always compare their woman's cooking to. I don't know about you, but I'd rather join her, than beat her!!!
My cooking tragedies
Preparing 300 deviled eggs for a church function, only to have them end up on a well worn laminate floor fifteen minutes before the event began! Ah, such a travesty!!! Can you say "Albertsons"??? Yep, had to run to the grocer down the road and spend six thousand dollars (well not really!) to purchase already prepared ones in lieu of my ginger pickled eggs. Sad day in Tiffany land, and her pocket book, too!
