I'm a 21 year old new bride with no idea how to cook! I would love to surprise my husband with new dishes when he comes home, but I have no clue what to make, or how to make it. I need something easy to begin with, so I can't mess it up.
My favorite things to cook
Potatoes. I love the versatility, the textures, the smells, and the tastes. Not only that, but being as they are the only thing my pregnant body will accept right now, I especially love them more.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother would roll in her grave if she knew I was eating boxed mac n cheese. I want to save money, and put some of my knowledge to work by making something I can be proud of....besides babies.
My cooking triumphs
I made a slow-cooking dish. I was tired, a little hungry, and didn't know what to make. So I threw rice, some stewed tomatoes, oregano and rosemary in the slowcooker and let them go. Then I baked some chicken covered in Lemon Pepper seasoning, and butter, and real lemon, and after that, I shredded it, added it to the slowcooker. When all was said and done, I put it in the fridge because I was afraid to look at it. The next day, I threw a mass of cheese on it and baked it, and my husband said it was superb....there's hope for me yet!
My cooking tragedies
It might be easier for me to list my triumphs than my tragedies because the scale is so off kilter! I rarely make a dish well. So, I want to improve this part of my life!
