About this Cook
School, work... blah.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake just about anything - cookies, muffins, cupcakes, cakes, etc. I've just picked up cooking so nothing really to favor yet but I made the Cajun Potatoes from this site a few days ago and the boyfriend loved them. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom, my sisters and I used to bake pound cake when we were young but since then my mom's moved away from carbs. :( Now I do cookies and now and then for them - Beth's Spicy Oatmeal cookies are a favorite.
My cooking triumphs
Not really as of yet but this Christmas I'm going to try and bake a cheesecake. Or mini cheesecakes. Stay tuned...
My cooking tragedies
A banana bread and carrot cake that both came out mushy. So sad. :(

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole
My family absolutely loved this even when I was indifferent. Came out really moist and with a lot of corn flavor. It was easy to make so I can't complain. Recommended for those who love corn! I might try to reduce the amount of liquid so it comes out like a cornbread rather than a casserole. Bon appetite!

Megan's Granola
The great thing about this recipe is that it is so versatile and you can add and omit anything that you want! I decided to take out the sunflower seeds and add more pecans, almonds and rolled oats. I didn't want to add any maple syrup and instead added more honey and it tasted great. I preferred to bake it longer on each side, about 12 minutes, so the nuts were toasted a little bit. I added cranberries in the beginning with the rest of the dry ingredients and it turned out fine. Instead of having to mix in the middle of the baking time, I took a pan out of the oven, placed parchment paper on top, then placed a cookie pan on top and flipped the whole thing so the granola was flipped and I wouldn't have to stir - it worked out great but make sure you have a good grip of both pans or else granola goes flying! Have fun with this recipe and remember, you can't go wrong with the ingredients!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy
Great recipe! I didn't have sherry but it tasted great without it. Other than that, I didn't change anything about the recipe. Some things I did to help make it easier was to just take an onion and cut it into thin slices using a mandolin and threw them on the skillet with some olive oil while I formed the steak servings. Served this with some baked potatoes and it was wonderful. Bon appetite!
