About this Cook
I am a retired bank officer. Love to bake and cook in that order. Mom to a daughter who is in college. When others enjoy my baking/cooking, it makes my day. Still trying to hone my culinary skills.
My favorite things to cook
Things baked and cooking of dinners now and then.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cakes, breads, buns and pies plus some Asian savory and sweet dishes. For baking, I usually follow American recipes as I find these are very often fuss-free, simple and easy in view of my lack of experience. I hope to try the more sophisticated recipes later on but till then, I am happy to plod along and slowly upgrade my knowledge thru Allrecipes' website and with help from its members who have been most helpful to every question of mine. 3 Cheers for Allrecipes and its members!
My cooking triumphs
Have had several. Hope to have more!
My cooking tragedies
Oh these were alot! Let's not even go there!

Grandma Johnson's Scones
Have done this thrice. Simply gorgeous. My friends and family said they were "divine" and "super delicious". I have tried with raisins and mixed dried fruits (the kind you use for fruit cakes) and these came out very tasty. Gadzillion thanks!!!

Simple White Cake
I found this cupcake to be good really. Like other reveiwers I added 30 ml extra milk. The taste was good except that I think I overbaked the cupcakes a tad (no fault of the recipe though). I would make it again for sure.
