About this Cook
I am a just-retired bank officer. Love to bake and cook in that order. Mom to a daughter who is in college. When others enjoy my baking/cooking, it makes my day. Still trying to hone my culinary skills.
My favorite things to cook
Things baked and cooking of dinners now and then.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cakes, breads, buns and pies plus some Asian savory and sweet dishes. For baking, I usually follow American recipes as I find these are very often fuss-free, simple and easy in view of my lack of experience. I hope to try the more sophisticated recipes later on but till then, I am happy to plod along and slowly upgrade my knowledge thru Allrecipes' website and with help from its members who have been most helpful to every question of mine. 3 Cheers for Allrecipes and its members!
My cooking triumphs
Have had several. Hope to have more!
My cooking tragedies
Oh these were alot! Let's not even go there!

Florida Strawberry Muffins
I actually would give this 4 1/2 stars. They were rather good. Moist. I followed the recipe exactly. Only thing different was that I added some cinnamon sugar on top before baking. The strawberries tasted good with the muffins. Would recommend this recipe ... but would suggest not using any liners as the muffin does stick a bit to the paper.

Bacon Quiche Tarts
I followed most of this recipe except that I used cheddar in lieu of swiss, added red and green peppers (diced and sauteed with the onions and some flour) and a flaky butter pastry found of this Site. Also I sprinkled some grated cheddar to the bases of the pastry to prevent sogginess. The quiche was simple awesome! Will definitely make again and again and ..... Thanks Donna L!

Cinnamon Streusel Orange Muffins
Made these last nite. By Golly, they were GOOD! Even tho' I reduced the sugar by a tad, used concentrated orange juice plus a bit of lemon zest, nevertheless, I would still give it 5 stars since there ain't no 4 1/2 star rating. The orange flavour (after tweaking) just comes thru and the cinnamon sugar centre just completely blends with the whole muffin! If you don't try this, the loss is yours! Thanks so much Michelleca for this recipe. I am gonna Wow my family & friends with these muffins!
