Hi! I'm an elementary education teacher who loves everything about being at home.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook all kinds of things. My favorite thing to do is bake. During college I worked in a bakery in the early mornings to help pay for tuition. I suppose it stuck with me because I find myself making a lot of the bakery goods here at home. Also, I love to cook in my cast iron skillets, to me there's nothing like them. On the stove, in the oven, on the grill or over a campfire, I'm all about the cast iron!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a southern heritage and boy do we love to cook and bake! I have butter and I'm not afraid to use it!
My cooking triumphs
I'm happy to say that I can finally make biscuits that do a southern woman proud! I tried recipe after recipe after recipe until I found... the ONE. We have a family, sit-down dinner almost every day here at home and breakfasts too when possible. (Lunch?! C'mon now! Can't a girl catch a break?! I don't want to be responsible for single-handedly taking the fast food business down!) Lots of big family dinners happen at our house. We love tradition, holidays and get-togethers!
My cooking tragedies
My very first chocolate cake was made to impress my, then boyfriend, now husband. I made it from scratch. Sadly, it was horrid... we fed a bite to the dog who rolled in the floor all night and groaned. LOL! Luckily, my cakes have much improved.
