About this Cook
I am a Finnish university student whose interests include food, culture and food cultures (especially Mediterranean ones). I started cooking for myself when I became a vegetarian at the age of 16. Though I've been eating meat for some years now I'm still very fund of vegetarian cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta!! Also risottos, pizzas and other Italian food; my student exchange in Verona made me a devoted fan of Italian cuisine. Another thing that I love to cook are seasonal ingredients, such as new potatoes&veggies in the summer and self-picked berries and mushrooms in the autumn.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional baked goods most of all. My grandmother's Carelian pies or rye bread fresh from the wood oven, and my mum's salmon pie with melted butter&dill or classic cinnamon buns are some of my favourite ones.
