Instead of baking soda, I used bi-carb soda, and funnily enough the internet stopped whilst the picture was downloading, so I wasn’t sure how to shape the bread. I ended up using one of the new silicone cake / loaf bakeware from Woolworths.
I used the traditional bake section on the oven, which slowed the fan right down and found that the bread took an hour and a half to cook. I topped the bread twice with the buttermilk and butter mixture. It rose beautifully, and I served it with an Irish Stew. It was the perfect accompaniment.
