I have recently moved to a small town and have more time to prepare meals. I have two boxers now, just lost my senior boy this last October - man that sux. I have made some great things for my husband and some not so great but he is wonderful and very patient with my experimenting.
My favorite things to cook
I actually really love to bake but with living a healthy lifestyle and a diabetic husband I don't bake that often. I've started baking dog treats and that's fun. I love cooking new vegetable dishes because my husband and his kids haven't been exposed to a lot of wonderful ways to eat vegetables so that's one reason I really love this site.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I've definitely learned from watching my Grandmother and mother cook wonderful meals. I do have one Thanksgiving tradition and that is a stuffing recipe I got from the Silver Palate cookbook, with three different kinds of bread, sausage and apples - it's wonderful.
My cooking triumphs
I recently did my Thanksgiving Turkey in a brine (Nigella Lawson's recipe) and the turkey was the best turkey I have ever had, very moist.
My cooking tragedies
Deciding to cook some fish that I had but not having a marinade. Baked it with some leftover pico degallo - it was awful.
