About this Cook
I'm mother of 2 boys(13 & 9). I cook inside, hubby cooks outside. My family (excluding boys) tells me I am a great cook. Averaging out my own ratings of my own recipes, I am just mediocre. Rather than make tried-and-true recipes for company, I usually use guests as an opportunity to try something new.
My favorite things to cook
Anything I haven't tried before
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's dressing w/ oysters, celery, bourbon, and many other things. She refuses to share recipe w/ anyone. It looks frightening and my husband won't touch it w/ a barge pole.
My cooking triumphs
I'm still waiting for this.
My cooking tragedies
Tomato curry with walnuts. I was 18 years old, living with my parents, and wanted to impress my sweetie. I ended up shoving him away from the stove so that he couldn't taste how revolting it was. He never did get to try it.

Fluff Dip for Fruit
This is excellent. I hardly ever get asked for my recipes, but I got asked for this.

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Brownies
My son wanted me to give this 5 stars on his behalf. This was to be his first foray into baking. We read through the reviews for tips, and DH and I went out for the afternoon. When we got back we had these absolutely delicious brownies waiting for us. He reported that he left the nuts out for his little brother, covered the brownies part way through so they didn't brown too much, added 1/4 cup extra to the cream cheese mix, and baked it for 60 minutes. He had no problems. They were easy as brownies. My diet did have to look the other way though.

Creamy Rice Pudding
I used left-over, long-grain, white rice instead what it says in the recipe and my hubbie still said that no tv chef could have made a better. This recipe is awesome, not in the common, everyday usage, but really awesome. But do leave out the raisins.
