About this Cook
My mother is a brilliant cook. However, I never appreciated the kitchen until about 12 years ago - I got hooked on the Food Network Chanel! I hardly ever stick to recipes, and am always modifying them. I love food; however, it has to be healthy. I recently undertook a 90-day juice fast with "Reboot Your Life" and lost 42 lbs/18 kg. This totally rebooted my taste buds and rebooted my way of thinking about food and eating healthy. I'm now following a program for life called Eat to Live.
My favorite things to cook
Asian cuisine because I can use so little (if any, oil) and loads of crispy veggies. I'm forever looking up new things to make, especially now that we are heading into winter.
My cooking triumphs
Baking
My cooking tragedies
I've been rather fortunate in that I haven't really had any tradegies in the kitchen. Made mistakes certainly, but I wouldn't call them tragedies, we've always been able to eat the food.

Very Chocolate Brownies
This is a great recipe, very simple, very quick. Very much a cake texture, but hey still yummy. I added 70g of slithered almonds for crunch. I will continue to put in the nuts - I recommend you try it too.

Bacon Ranch Pea Salad
When I first saw this recipe, I thought the bacon was red peppers - which gave me an idea. I follwed the recipe as given, but added red peppers, crushed garlic (which I mixed in the mayonnaise), crushed pepper and a bit of mint. I left out the cheese. For some reason, the cheese part didn't appeal to me. I took the pea salad to a BBQ last night and got the thumbs up all round. The pea mix, as someone called it was picked out and raved about which must have been a good thing as there were other salads there too!

Crustless Cranberry Pie
I thought this recipe was delightful. Every time we have a "bring and share"......... this recipe is requested! I modified it somewhat and added 1 cup coconut. If you feel it may be a bit dry, just add a tad of milk, give it a good mix before putting it in baking dish.
