i kicked myself this was soooo frigging good. i'm a transplant from alabama and with this gravy, i completely validated my long Southern heritage. it was delicious

I'd never really fully enjoyed an apple pie before so I'm not sure what gave me the idea to try to make one. I guess I always felt like there was something lacking in the pies I'd had. But for some reason I thought that the idea of an apple pie had so much potential I didn't know why I hadn't had one that was really amazing. So I tried this recipe, and man. oh. man. This is the most delicious apple pie I've ever had by far. It makes me realize that all the times I'd had apple pies before... Those definitely weren't cutting it. I made this for some friends for a dinner party and one friend said he'd never really liked apple pies before either. This one is definitely a keeper and do not change a thing! I did this with the recipe Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust and it was just phenomenal. It should be a standby for anyone.

Perhaps my expectations were a little high given the rating of these cookies, but they definitely did not meet my expectations. They spread out much more than my usual chocolate cookie recipe and ended up a bit thinner than I'd have liked. I mean, these were good, but not the best I've had. My favorite chocolate cookie recipe can be found in the yellow Bell South's Calling All Cooks Cookbook. Now those are some cookies worth writing home about.
