About this Cook
I have been cooking for 15 years, and my repertoire has expanded to cover Asian, Italian and especially Latino. I love baking desserts, and am currently into pies. My latest challenge is to make sure that I make more health conscious meals for my growing boys and their changing tastes.
My favorite things to cook
Anything dessert. Also, if anything looks technically complicated, I want to try to cook it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My kids are becoming experts in the kitchen, and I am including them every time I try a new recipe. In a way is really about creating a tradition for them.
My cooking triumphs
Buying a stand mixer allowed me to finally make edible bread and pizza dough about 3 years ago. Have made several kinds of bread ever since, including a whole wheat honey bread I made last week.
My cooking tragedies
Had to be the first time I made bread about 7 years ago. I kept adding flour to keep it form sticking to me. Ended up tough as a brick. Also recently tried gnocci, while simultaneously making a baked dessert, and overcooked them; looked like oatmeal.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust
chibi chef, your technique is genious!! Aside from the flakiness, the flavor was outstanding! I used 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup shortening, and added 1 tsp of sugar because it was for a sweet pie.

Raspberry Pie I
LOVED this recipe. I made it after getting a ton of raspberries and blackberries at a u-pick farm. I usually don't buy raspberries because I never know that to do with them. I added 1 tsp. of vanilla extract, which I thought added a nice depth to the flavor, but forgot the butter. Never mind; I will buy many raspberries from now on to make this wonderful pie!

Spicy Indian Chicken Curry Yummy
This recipe is super easy, and a great starter recipe for those that want to slowly approach cooking with the depth of spices in Indian cooking. I added about a cup of water to create the 'gravy', and some salt since I think it needed it. Served it with Basmati rice, balanced very well, also my kids enjoyed it. There is some depth missing though, not sure how I could have fixed that; I have had wonderful Indian food in the past, but I am not experienced in Indian cooking. Because of the ease, I will make again.
