About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I have been really in to appetizers this summer and have made several dips and salads. I love to bake but am trying to break away from the usual banana bread and cookies every now and then. I would like to get into breads and stews this winter.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My father has been a bread baker my whole life and completed culinary school with a focus on pastries. I grew up eating traditional Indian cusines along with Thai and good 'ol Americana.
My cooking triumphs
I made a delicious vegetarian hot pot many years ago that was really good. I have made several dishes that taste great but I am shooting for dishes that will both look great and taste great right now. I really enjoy the photo sharing option on this site. I get to work on my cooking and photography skills at the same time.

Macaroni and Cheese V
I was not too impressed with the way this turned out. Very bland and I agree with others that the bread crumbs were not a good addition to the dish and seemed to add to the blandness. I even added about 1/4 cup extra milk and an extra cup of cheese (used both sharp cheddar and mozzarella) in an effort to make the dish more moist and to make the sauce more a part of the dish as opposed to just flavoring. Alas, it didn't work. If I were to use this recipe again I think I would leave out the bread crumbs and add some tomatoes or ham.

Orange Sherbet Salad I
This was very good and easy to make too. I was not able to use all of the sherbet because the mixture became too cool before I was done. I am not sure how you could use the whole pint without reheating the mixture. I used a can of crushed pineapple, one can of mandarin oranges, and two small bananas and it was just the right amount of fruit. I will definitely try this using other flavors.

Cream Cheese Penguins
These were ok but I don't much care for black olives. It was pretty difficult to get the cream cheese into the jumbo olives but the end result was cute and unique. I don't know if there is even such a thing as jumbo green olives but I might try those instead.
