I love to cook, in fact after I get my associates in business, I plan on opening my own home-style diner. I'm only almost 19, but have been cooking my entire life. Other than cooking, I do tri-chem which is painting on fabrics, go to school, and work as a file clerk. I used to be a technical theatre kid in high school so without being an actor, most of the drama student or theatre kid generalizations probably apply to me.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer to cook comfort food and homestyle stuff. I have tried my hand at baking and it is not my specialty though I still dive in once in a while. I am adequate, but not as good as I am with things that don't involve following a recipe ver batum. Two of my favorite things are scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach, though I could never make a complete list.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family comes with one main cooking tradition - fresh amazing bread that rises all day and leaves the whole house smelling yeasty and yummy. The downside is that the bread has never come with a recipe. It's done by hand, by feel, and by practice. Obviously - I can't do it yet. (But once I can I'm going to try to convert it to recipe and put on this!)
It goes best with my mothers other tradition - Mom's famus fried chicken that brings kids and grandkids home from hours away. She has an old style Miricle Maid skillet thing and it's the only thing that she makes it in, and when it dies we'll all be very sad.
My cooking triumphs
I think my biggest triumph is that of any other cooks - improvising sucessfully when you don't have half the ingredients but really want that dish.
