About this Cook
My husband and I both love to cook. We both work outside the home, so it is relaxing to putter around the kitchen together and catch up on how our day went. He is the BBQ expert and I love to bake. We both love to try new foods, and different ways of cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Cajun food, bread, southern food, and all kinds of desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We cook Thanksgiving dinner for our extended family. They arrive early and congregate in the kitchen. It is wonderful to have them together in our home, and to have an excuse to break out the good china. We also cook mass quantities for one or two potluck picnics each summer. It is not unheard of to make 50 pounds of potato salad or baked beans and a dessert, and head to the picnic site where my husband will preside over the grill and cook the burgers and hot dogs, and I help set up and serve the food.
My cooking triumphs
I have baked a couple of tiered wedding cakes that each served more than one hundred people. Because I wanted them to be absolutely perfect, I baked practice cakes and gave them away before I made the real cakes. This made me very popular among friends and family.

Sweet As Kisses Pie
Easy and delicious, cool and refreshing! It took longer to unwrap the ingredients than it did to make the pie. I will definitely make this again. Cut the pie while still frozen, and put onto plates, but let it stand for 30 minutes before serving for the best flavor.

Iced Coffee Syrup
This is the most refreshing drink ever! For coffee-lovers, it is a terrific summer cooler. I made a batch for my teenaged daughter and her friends and it was gone in a single sitting. Try it with a rich chocolate milk for a wonderful mocha flavor.

Surprise Apple Salad
So easy and so good! I have made it a few times now. Some optional ingredients that I have tried: Oreo pie crust, toasted coconut, chopped pecans, caramel topping, marachino cherries. It is good on its own, or with its many tasty variations. This recipe is a keeper!
