I work in the medical field as a medical assistant. At the beginning of October I will be attending classes at Art Institute of Seattle in the Associates Baking and Pastry.. a change in careers. I really love to bake and this is the way i will be able to do this professionally and maybe my degree will send me to travel the world a little.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer to bake homemade pies, cakes, breads and I want to learn how to make homemade pastas and design cakes for big occasions. baking almost anything and i am willing to try different ethnic recipes so I can maybe see the world through food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking southern dishes which are homemade, nothing comes out of a can and rarely out of a box. Holiday with the family was the main event for us and family trips fishing.. frying up the catch of the day.
My cooking triumphs
I made a pan of baklava and Thanks to one of all-recipe entries i made my first pan of lasagna that was awesome. that is one of the comfort food that i normally leave for other family members to make but this time I did it and it was the cheesiest. my next greatest triumph would be to make a three tier wedding cake with fondant frosting and flowers. stay tuned
My cooking tragedies
i don't know if i could really consider this a tragedy. the first time i made homemade fudge and the recipe asked for sugar and i put in regular sugar instead of powered sugar. needless to say that the fudge was way to sweet. my kids didn't even want my fudge. i was on a sugar rush for a month.
