About this Cook
What can I say, I love to feed people. It brings me such pleasure to create a dish for everyone to enjoy. I always try to cook from the heart! In other words I pour a little of myself into every dish. I'm not one to stick to exact recipes, I usually add my own "zing" to what ever I'm cooking. I come from a large family so whenever we have a family gathering I have to cook for an army (lol). I am also a singer, and like my cooking I pour my heart into that as well. I am a very passionate person who loves her family, friends and god.
My favorite things to cook
My great-grandmother & grandfather (on my Fathers side) came from Italy to the USA before I was born. I had the very distinct pleasure of knowing my great-grandmother for most of my youth. Since we are of Italian decent, it is safe to say that I love to cook Italian dishes. My great-grandmother was a wonderful cook, and I remember watching her and learning a lot from her. She used to make everything from "scratch" and all of her recipes were in her head. I never EVER saw her use a recipe card. Now that's a tough act to follow.....
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving........need I say more? My Grandmother on my mothers side was from England and an awesome cook! Every year my grandmother would make the stuffing and pumpkin pies. Besides the Turkey, these are the 2 most important staples when it comes to "our" Thanksgiving dinners. Never the less, after the passing of my grandmother in 2000, my family has passed down the secret family recipes and put me in charge of them each year. What an honor and a pleasure.......
My cooking triumphs
Fillet Mingon for 25 people!! I have cooked a lot of steaks on the grill, but usually for myself and my husband. One Christmas, I decided to make Fillet Mignon for our immediate family. I had never done this before and considering the cost of the meat, I was a little scared. But I followed my instincts and everything came out wonderful!!
My cooking tragedies
I have to say that "any" lost meal is a tragedy... you know it's bad if you have to throw it out!! I've had a few, who hasn't? (right!) Just take note of your mistakes, ask for advice on what you did wrong and try, try again......
