Myself
About this Cook
I am a University student, majoring in film studies, minoring in Religion.... I cater (called craft services in the business) on small film sets in Winnipeg. My specialty is 'Sunshine Muffins' which use the entire orange in the recipe; as well as healthy but inexpensive foods because meal budgets aren't that big on small productions.
My favorite things to cook
Anything vegetarian! I like to eat mostly vegetarian meals at home with a few meat dishes a week for my husband. I feel excited to cook veggie foods every evening. Hummus is my favorite. Economical recipes for a small budget. Root veggies and other cheap foods can make some awesome meals with a little imagination and the right spices.... Hot Dog and Sausage recipes. I have about 100+ different recipes for them that I invented and hope to one day collect them into a recipe book. Who wouldnt want a weiner cookbook?
My favorite family cooking traditions
Breads. And not bread machine types. I knead and bake all my breads by hand.
My cooking triumphs
I love to bake good bread. If I can make a loaf of a different variety each week, I'm happy.
My cooking tragedies
When a recipe I try for the first time has a miscalculation of an ingredient. Sometimes it is not always advisable to follow the recipe to a T or you'll end up with something not wanted. Just recently I used a kid's cookbook to make muffins and they typo-ed the amount of wet to dry ingredients, they came out more like scones.

Slow Cooker Homemade Beans
Went well with my family. You do need to soak beans and then boil them. They still were a bit tough in the end, so i would recommend soaking over a whole day and not just overnight.

Hasty Chocolate Pudding
although it was good it had that 'quick cooked' microwave taste to it. Over the stovetop is always more flavourful even if it might take 5 more min, it is well worth it. So i would opt to stovetop and not microwave this.

Monkey Bread I
Very tasty. I put in down in front of a group of people with a paper attached to it entitled "monkey bread". When i came back, it was all gone and on the paper underneath the name someone wrote "more please". So it was a crowd pleaser.
