About this Cook
My name is Elise I am of Italian/German desent.I am 40 years old and truly have been cooking since a very young age. I grew up with a mother that made me close my eyes and have to tell her every ingrediant in what I was tasting. Never had a frozen veg. till I was in my thirties. I grew up addicted to Julia Childs and in love with anything James Beard had to say. Cooking for me is a three meal a day event and every meal must be paired with something fantastic! Every meal I cook explains how my day went or how I am feeling, and obviously the seasons change everything! There isn't anything I don't eat or cook. I have traveled a lot and have had the oppertunity to really test my taste buds. If it's fresh and colorful or comes out of the sea it's for me.
My favorite things to cook
My back round and upbringing makes me very passionate for Italian, a lot of love and paitents go into it. My most fun is old school classic Mexican/Spanish. I enjoy the art of Japanesse, classic French, and good ol'basic down home cookin'. Stews,Soups,Roasts & Racks of anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Old School Northren Italian & Baking,Baking, Baking. My mothers teachings covered a large variety of cultures. My fathers was nothing but Italian. Northern and Siciallian.
My cooking triumphs
I have many and not just one to highlight. I put a lot of love into my cooking. My meal planing always comes to me throughout the course of a day.Course for course wines included. There has been some blunders but for the most part I've come a long way.
My cooking tragedies
I must say my most memoriable, was back in the beging of being on my own. 1st apt. Grand kitchen(A MUST)at the time living with what turned out to be my Husband of no more. He was notorius for bring home co workers for dinner. Dinner was great but in a frantic rush, whipped up a sponge cake (obviously accidently dropped a soapy sponge into the batter) before placing in the oven. All I remember is my then to be Husband saying "Honey what kind of cake is this? "it tasts like a sponge!" I in return said: very good honey it is sponge cake... I then took a bite and realized what he ment.
