I have 2 wonderful kids ages 2 and 7 and another one on the way. I love to cook for people and enjoy having my house full. I don't have all the time in the world so I like dishes that taste good and don't take a whole lot of special ingredients.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to make is called corn casserole. I got it from a lady at church and it is so good. I really love to make choclate chip cookies also but I'm game for anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is a wonderful cook and I never realized it until I married and was introduced into my new inlaws idea of cooking. I can't really say I have a family cooking tradition but I am the only one of six kids that has managed to make moms gravy just as good.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering my mothers gravy----getting my husband to try new things that he previously didn't think he would like.
My cooking tragedies
Our first Thanksgiving in our new house----we had no oven. All I had to use to cook our meal was a toater oven---a hot plate, a roaster and the grill. Everything turned out excellent except the dinner rolls I was trying to make in the toaster oven. They were the kind that needed to be in a muffin pan but one wouldn't fit so I just put them on the little pan that came with the oven. Needless to say---they started going everywhere and didn't cook right at all. I wanted to cry because this was the first Thanksgiving in our new house with my husbands family. Everyone ate the raw rolls anyway and acted like nothing was wrong but I was devastated. Now I cook the rolls a day in advance to make sure I can get more if they don't cook right!
