About this Cook
I just moved out of my parents home and moved in with my boyfriend. So I am left to defend on my own and attempt to cook for me and my man. My family is from down south and they are all amazing cooks so I have a lot to live up to. I am also going to college. I am majoring in Psychology and want to specialize in police psychology and PTSD for law enforcement and military. =)
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I basically like cooking anything but meat. I HATE cooking meat. I am not a vegetarian but it's becoming close.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am just looking forward to having my own family one day and starting new traditions. =)
My cooking triumphs
Basically anything. I'm not the best cook.. but I'm good at following directions! =)
My cooking tragedies
Oh, the memories...

Birthday Bones
Very simple recipe. This is my first attempt at making dog cookies. I thought the batter was very hard to work with, very dry and flaky. But I think it was something I did wrong and not the recipe. I couldn't find unsalted NP at walmart so I just used Smuckers NP in creamy. They ended up turning out good. My 3 month old German Shepherd loves them. I cut some into big shapes with cookie cutters and others real small for training treats (we are in potty training phase!) I would make them again because they are so simple and Havoc loves them!

Lighter Banana Muffins
Very good muffins! =) I made a few changes to make it a little healthier. I added 1 cup all-purpose flour and 1 cup whole wheat flour, added about 2 tsp flaxseed and 2 tsp wheat germ, I didn't use all the suger so I added just a few drops of honey to the wet liquids. I also added a little vanilla for taste and about 2 tsp of applesauce and an extra banana because my batter was a little too thick. This made them perfect texture though. I suggest freezing them so you can leave one out the night before if you want one for breakfast or if you want one for lunch you can grab it from the freezer and it will thaw out by lunch! Plan on making lots more of these.

Pumpkin Flax Quickbread
These were awesome!!! I've been trying to eat healthier so these are perfect. I did make a few changes. I added about a tsp of wheat germ.. however next time I will prolly add more. I used 1 cup all-purpose and 2/3 cups whole wheat flour (trying to make it a little healthier, will try working my way up to whole wheat since I just started eating like this). I made these into muffins so I can wrap individually and put in the freezer to put my lunches later. I added a little brown sugar on top to some of them which makes them just a little better but still great without it. I also tried added raisens. The muffins are very moist and delicious and easy to make ahead and freeze. Good grab and go snacks! Permenatly on my list of foods to make!
